In 1999, shortly after his sister and brother in-law became owners at the resort, Bruce also bought a timeshare there. Over the years, he has vacationed at his Summer Bay Resorts timeshare with family members, friends, and even on solo vacations. READ MORE at:

Bruce’s Summer Bay Resorts timeshare can be found on the Sell My Timeshare NOW website as ad number: 1521636. He has deeded ownership of Week 36 in a three-bedroom timeshare lockout, which includes, three baths, and sleeps up to 12 people. Most often he has used it as a double lock out which allows him to split his usage into two full weeks annually.

“What a wonderful way for a couple or family to vacation,” says Bruce, but I often think that the real deal would be for a company to purchase the unit and use it as a corporate incentive. Once their first employee vacationed there and came back to work and shared what a fabulous resort it is, everyone else in the company would be clamoring to earn the right to vacation there next.”

We write a lot about the timeshare and vacation ownership properties available through Sell My Timeshare NOW and VacationOwnership.com, but truly, no one can share the story better than does the owner who has used the timeshare and loved it and now is ready to pass it along at a great price to a new owner.

Bruce Carnohan is invited to help King’s Lynn Academy (KLA) on it’s quest to further improve it’s processes and offer real world learning, knowledge, aspirations and leadership to its leadership team and students.

During the week of December 17-22, 2012 is when the KLA leadership team and Bruce kick off their mission to use the tools outlined in this text book to significantly improve one or more troublesome processes at KLA.
Craig Morrison, Principal is determined to use real world hands on specialists to make his Academy the educational site of choice in the UK. He comments:

There are three main strands to our work at King’s Lynn Academy which direct all that we do:

Knowledge – we want all students attending the academy to develop a thirst for new knowledge, to have their current understandings challenged and to learn new skills which they can apply to different contexts and work-settings. Our specialism in mathematics will inform learning across the curriculum.

Leadership – all who work and learn within the academy will act with a sense of responsibility. There are many opportunities to take a lead: in lessons; within sports; the arts; and work within the community. In particular, our specialism in business and enterprise will enable students to practise entrepreneurial skills in real work environments.

Aspiration – every young person attending the academy can expect to be supported to achieve the very best outcomes, through coaching and mentoring and support for individual gifts, talents and learning needs. We do not set limits on how far our students can go in their learning and set challenging targets for all.

Teaming up with the KLA is a huge step in fostering both business and educational links, inclusive of the international experiences brought by Bruce’s prior work.

Upon completion of the trip to the UK, the results of our efforts will be posted here for others to observe and learn from.

If you are a principal in a private school or Academy and would like to learn more about this creative collaboration, please connect with Bruce below.

I recently met with Kym Glass “The People Person” So what are the Six P’s of being unstoppable?

When I think of the word UNSTOPPABLE, a train barreling down the tracks to get to it’s timely destination comes to mind. The powerful thing about a train moving so rapidly is that it really never stops to think about what “may” be in it’s pathway!! So many times along our personal and business journey, we tend to focus too much on “what if” instead of focusing on “our why” and what it is we are wanting to accomplish successfully! When we get to the place that we have clarity on “Our Why”, we are able to keep our focus on the end result of what we are wanting to accomplish and we will be just like the train and able to live in an UNSTOPPABLE state on a daily basis with no worries about what potential things “could possibly” happen.

The following SIX P’s that have helped me along my journey of becoming UNSTOPPABLE and along the way, have sustained me through some of the darkest hours and days in my personal and business life. By relying on them I have stayed focused on what matters most and the end result of being totally free to be me!

Passion, Perseverance, Positive, Patience, Phriends and Phaith!

Passion – It is what drives me to be the very best I can be in every area of my life!! It is about doing anything I do to the best of my ability, regardless of the task at hand or what I have committed myself or my business to do. I believe personally that anything worth doing, is worth doing passionately, correctly and enthusiastically!

Perseverance – You know the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, perseverance is what keeps me centered on “My Why” and helps me to stay on course to see the most difficult situations behind me. Perseverance is the force that makes me never think twice about giving up or quitting. It is knowing that once I have successfully crossed over the hurdle, I will be better for the learning, knowledge and the truest understanding of the why for the greater good.

Positive – I am a firm believer that you can accomplish and get through any crisis in life if you can maintain a positive mindset while facing any obstacle. Always remember that obstacles are only temporary and they will soon pass.

Patience – Everything is always in timing!! Remember that things in life can be accomplished by having patience for the perfect timing to arrive. Sometimes we have to push and often times it is essential for us to sit back and wait patiently for the answer. Having patience will give you the edge to hold steady for your time to arrive.

Phriends – They are the colorful sprinkles on the cake of life!! Those great supporters that encourage us with a kind word, a smile, encouragement, their brilliant insights, or a great hug. We all have phriends that come and go throughout our lives and my belief is that we have them for the various reasons in our life when we need them to appear to aid us on our journey and in return, we do the same for them.

Phaith – Last, but certainly not least, Phaith is ALL about your core belief system and what you value to hold onto during the storms of life. Phaith is a sustaining attribute that will enable you to become fearless in the face of adversity and give you strength to hang on tight when the storms of life blow in. Phaith to me is the always present UNSTOPPABLE glue that keeps your feet planted firmly on your non-wavering core foundation and what truly holds all of the P’s together and is a powerful source to be reckoned with!

Bruce Carnohan has decades of experience designing and implementing top notch simpler – faster – best cost processes in business and nonprofits in multiple industries and size in four different countries and is sought out for his key strength and talents in these defined areas.

Carnohan Process Solutions owner Bruce Carnohan comments on processes and experiences when dealing with startups.
The good, the bad, the ugly is a great commonly used term to put these startup highlights and pitfalls into a reality perspective.

The Good
The good and exciting aspect of engaging with a startup company is that you are beginning typically with a clean slate. It is likened to a painter with a great creative vision that has a clean canvas to paint and design the picture anyway he chooses. The picture is so fascinating and must be painted in a way to attract the necessary Board, C-Level, employees and ultimately the community in order to make the dream a living reality.

So how do you make the good to great occur? In a nut shell, the good to great can only occur when you have the four essential P’s properly in place. The four P’s are recognized as People, Processes, Planet and Profit!

It is essential that you attract the right people with the following:

Great leadership

Great flexibility

Keen ability to lead various areas of the organization

Background and reference check the people (more below in The Ugliest)

The reason behind these key ingredients is that it is essential that you build your business from the Core Processes to deliver value to your customers, community and shareholders.

Core Process development begins with a quick brainstorming/summary and buy into the Core Values of the organizational processes. Here are some categories that can emerge from a Core Process brainstorming session:

Client / People First

Social Responsibility

Sustainability

Trust

Integrity

Value

Community – Internal and External

Simplest, Fastest, Blame Free

Compelling Story

Ethical

Empowered Culture

Fun

In order to develop the Core Processes necessary to build the business from the value up, you ideally need a flexible facilitator that can take the brainstorming lists and create them into a macro picture or model of how the company looks from a thousand foot perspective.

Once the macro picture or model brainstormed and the core leadership team agrees, you can then plan the detailed processes to support each macro step. The development flow continues to roll out until you reach the appropriate level in the organization of responsibility. The final step is to create, what I refer to as a RACI chart that outlines and assigns job roles in the areas of; Responsibility, Accountability, Consult with and Informed.

The Bad
Unfortunately, the bad is often caused by the opposite factors when there is no vision, leadership, structure, or accountable delivery on the agreed upon plan for moving forward.

Teams often get “stuck” when there is a lack of structure or vision of how the startup needs to deliver the superior value that is necessary in the competitive and rapidly changing world at large!

Using an experienced, multi-talented facilitator is a key part of getting “unstuck”. This facilitator should possess both width and depth of various business models whether it is nonprofit operational experiences, multiple role perspective, senior or junior level of experience, and varying and different work settings.

Businesses are “more alike, than they are disalike” is a critical viewpoint. As such, processes used “outside” and regardless of industry specific can often be great examples of how to make the new start up become driven by a simpler, faster and the very best cost perspective.

All three of these operational perspectives are needed to ensure that value is ultimately delivered to the customer, community and shareholders of the start up.

The Ugliest of All
Now, the toughest part of a startup, the ugly. Startups are largely driven by their deepest core of a solid vision and an unwavering trust factor. If these critical core values are not evident in the beginning stages of the startup, it will never get off the ground to reach its desired potential.

The vision is merely a simple way to paint the picture of the startups outcome. The trust factor (as recently learned) can be stretched and distorted behind what I refer to as smoking mirrors. The startup may also be presented by third party entities that bring a credibility factor to the ownership who seek to merely portray what they have been told, but not researched.

When engaging with startups, it is essential that early on you verify everyone involved in the startup to ensure the credibility and process of the company. There is nothing worse than when expectations and promised commitments don’t go to the agreed upon plan. To complicate matters further, the varied justifications of the “why” may lead you to do more in depth research and especially when a payroll date is missed. The in depth research phase can often reveal an unexpected finding of previous and current history, public record listings and helpful insights into the integrity of the principles involved in the startup that determine and confirm the ugliest of all!

Suggested Research MUST do’s:

Public record check such as; current civil and criminal actions

Prior civil and criminal history

Professional on line search such as; LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace

Other possible searches such as; ancestry or genealogy searches

The Ah Hah Moment of Discovery:

What is most commonly discovered during these search results is that you will generally uncover a similar pattern of past family history, incidents and/or comments made by other people previously involved with the startup. After seeing, verifying and seeking answers you will begin to uncover the “why”. The clarity of the “why” begins when the pieces of the puzzle begin to align and interconnect and the ugly knowledge of what seemingly began as a lie. Overtime this beginning lie may turn into an insurmountable mountain of lies and deceit of which many great, talented, highly professional and trustworthy people have been duped by the ownership of the startup. This indeed is the ugliest of all!

In summary here are some startup successful tips:

Due diligence is key

Finding the right people for leadership is critical

Design the Startup Plan with these four master steps:

PEOPLE

PROCESSES

PLANET

PROFIT

You will notice I made no specific reference to profit. If you are focused and passionate about doing the first three master steps well, the fourth master step of profit will flow in abundance and in a sustainable manner to ensure the healthy long term viability of the startup!

Bruce the Brit (Bruce Carnohan) comments on Vision and Focus in business.
I have had the opportunity to step back in the past few weeks to really focus on the vision I created in the last quarter of 2011.
The picture of my Vision Board is here:

As I reflected on this entire process, I realized that a very clear, easy to communicate and constant communication of what you desire is so very important. Keeping the messages to everyone, in every circle of your life consistent to your vision is the key to figuring out what you should spend your time on. Through this tough reflective and somewhat selfish process I’ve been able to really figure out what “to and not what to spend your time on”

My TOP 10 observations may be helpful to you with the delivery of your vision and focused goals.

Stop spending time with people and processes that suck energy away from you

Stop spending time with people who tear down your unique gifts due to their own in security

Divert your thoughts, energy and input to the people and processes that help you build on positive relationships with you and others

Be willing to “weed the garden” of people and things that are taking away your energy and or your focus. Some of these people and things may appear to be very important to you and have been for a long time, however the reality is they are often not what they seem!

Be prepared to ask for what you want and then to be “still” and “patient” at certain times each day to let that flow your way

Spend time working on your growth. Lots of research shows that leaders who grow are able to influence the growth of their sphere in almost exact proportion to that new growth. Those who do not grow, who repeat their daily motions based on a laziness of mind are not going to lead any long term improvements

Invest some time in learning something new, something that you would “never see yourself doing”

Give some of your time to somebody or something who is not expecting your kindness and support. Watch as they become stronger through your moment of surprise support

Have a few fun moments, savor them, remember them and be able to laugh at the parts that amuse you most. People around us are a great source of inspiration and fun too

Be open and willing to form new relationships in all areas of your life. A leader I know once told me that opportunity has no concept of your timing of when it shows up. He was very successful in doing new things at the very “worst timing” in his life – he believes that is what sets him apart from others (Thank You Stuart Hughes and Rick Jordan)
